The Different Types of Laser Technology Used In Glass Engraving Equipment

Laser technology, used in glass engravers is intended to create precise, intricate designs on the surface of the glass. Three main types of lasers are used in Glass Engraving Equipment,

1.    CO2 Lasers

2.    YAG Lasers

3.    Fiber Lasers

CO2 lasers use a gas laser to produce a beam of light that is 10.6 micrometres in wavelength. This type of laser is used in most industrial glass engraving equipment because it is very efficient and has a long lifespan.

YAG lasers use a solid-state laser to produce a beam of light that is 1.06 micrometres in wavelength. This type of laser is often used for medical and dental glass sign engraving equipment because it is very precise and has a low heat generation.

Fiber lasers use a fiber optic laser to produce a beam of light that is 1 micrometre in wavelength. This type of laser is often used for military and aerospace Parts Engraving Equipment because it is very precise and has a long range.

How Do These Different Laser Technologies Work?

Though the basic purpose of all these three laser technologies used in sign engraving equipment is to create precise and superfast signs on glass surfaces, they all work similarly. The light is passed through a medium, such as a crystal, which amplifies the light. This amplified light is then directed out of the laser.

What Are The Benefits Of Each Type Of Laser Technology?

1.    Gas lasers are the oldest type of laser and use a gas such as helium or neon to produce light. They are relatively large and expensive, but they produce a very high-quality beam.

2.    Solid-state lasers are made of solid materials such as crystals or semiconductors. They are smaller and cheaper than gas lasers, and they can be pulsed to produce very high levels of power.

3.    Dye lasers use a dye as the lasing medium. They are smaller and cheaper than gas lasers, and they can be pulsed to produce very high levels of power through glass Parts Engraving Equipment.
